The Importance of Graphic Design for You & Your Business

Buyers make most decisions by relying on their two-second first impressions based on stored memories, images and feelings." -Malcolm Gladwell, Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking

I t then takes between 5-7 impressions to even start creating brand awareness. This shows how important consistency is in branding. Branding is not just graphic design, but it plays a huge part especially for online business.

Studies show that people remember:  10% of they hear —  20% of what they read — 80% of what they see. This is because the human brain processes visual cues better rather than the written language.

You'll remember this, not the text.

Graphic design is not just creating pretty pictures on a computer. It is the art of communication and problem solving through visual cues. Graphic design a big part of competing in business online or offline.  The main reason people prefer graphics and imagery over written text is primarily due to its speed of absorption. According to 3M Research, visuals are processed 60,000 times faster than text. Strong graphics can instantly communicate a message, feeling, emotion, and value; sometimes in as quickly as one second.

Why Graphic Design is important for you?

Creativity kills competition. To be able to stand out on a shelf, to be able to tell your brand story online, to show your product solving pain points will, having a distinctive and memorable brand logo / website are all made easier with graphic design.

1.Sales

A study has determined that badly designed websites are often not read, trusted or visited for any length of time. “Poor interface design was particularly associated with rapid rejection and mistrust of a website,” the study states,“In cases where the participants did not like some aspect of the design the site was often not explored further than the homepage and was not considered suitable for revisiting at a later date…”

Design encourages sales.

Even if your content is great, 94% of the reason the participants rejected a site in the above study was for design related issues, while only 6% was for content-related issues. We know that the longer we can keep a user on your site the chances of them converting or revisiting increases. Good graphic design equals sales if your marketing supports it. A group called The Design Council studied 63 portfolios of companies that traded on the FTSE (Financial Times Stock Exchange) over the course of a decade. They determined was that “every £100 a design alert business spends on design increases turnover by £225”.

2.Trust

When consumers buy from brands, they put their trust in  them. Chances are, nobody’s reading your mission statement, so how else will they know what your brand values are. This is not to say your brand values are not important, they are, very important and even more so today that ever before, but you must be creative in how to amplify them to your customers.

One survey showed that 81 percent of consumers said that they need to be able to trust the brand in order to buy from them (Edelman,2019). As a matter of fact, the percentage of consumers that felt this way was similar across different global markets, different ages, and also across different income groups. Take the above picture example, I don’t trust that a purchase from the example website on the left will go too swimmingly for me. But that’s just my perception.

3. Consistency & Recognition

Think of it like that children’s whisper game, where one person whispers a phrase to the person next to them, who has to repeat their translation of what was said to the next person and so on, until the person down the end has a completely warped version of what was originally said. This is brand inconsistency.

Graphic design is important for any business wanting to create credibility in their industry or field. Consistency is credibility. Your company’s total brand image starts with a great logo and expands to every aspect of your business.

Where can we help you with your design needs?

Logo Design:

The right logo says everything without saying a word.

It acts as a symbol of success and a commitment to the customer. It is the fulfillment of a partnership between a business owner and a graphic designer, whose collaboration is an act of communication and whose final design is the result of discussions about what the logo should do. Choose your logo and your designer carefully, so your business may prosper and you may profit.

Website:

We love to build websites, check out the one you’re on right now, it’s clean, simple to use and has character, it says a lot about us, if we do say so ourselves. It’s backed up by clean code and secure servers, it’s fast and responsive, it changes depending on what device you’re on. A strategically focused website must attract, engage, and convert visitors. Developing a successful site is impossible without considering the user’s experience and hierarchy of messaging. It’s important for your site to be intuitive and funnel prospects through in a predictable way. Clear messaging and conveniently placed call to actions are paramount. Make sure that your website load time does not exceed 3 seconds. Take note that if your site loads in 2.9 seconds, it’s faster than approximately 50% of the entire web. If your site loads in 1.7 seconds,it’s faster than almost 75% of the web!

The most effective way to accomplish this is to partner with an experienced web and/or graphic design firm that can strategically develop a website that works best for your business.

Advertising (Online and Offline):

Did you know that according to the marketing of colours Red is a very energizing colour that can portray friendliness and strength, but can also be demanding and show aggression depending on its context. Overall, if you’re looking to have a really powerful presence or get someone’s attention fast, red is your go-to colour, it also just so happens to be our brand colour, and we're pretty friendly as it happens.

Chances are when you started your business, you vigorously established what and who your target audience would be. As established and well-rounded as your target market might be on paper, in practice, targeting this market can be tricky.Once again, this is where graphic design comes in and saves the day.

Social Media:

Being in the age of ‘custom everything’ people look for what stands out. Without proper branding, your page just gets drowned out and lost in the noise. Take the initiative and invest in developing your own custom images and branded posts to spread your company’s presence across the internet.
